Fields of study at this department cover a wide range of transport and logistical systems from oil and gas facilities and space launching systems to special purpose track vehicles and automobile maintenance. Apart from that, the department is responsible for standardization and certification for oil and gas industry needs. Graduates of this department can work at scientific and research laboratories, design engineering department and enginery production enterprises.
Applicants have an opportunity to study for the account of defense industry enterprises. Such students have to work for 3 years at the enterprise which financed the student’s education. Moreover, Institute of Military and Technical Education (Omsk State Technical University) trains specialists for the Russian Federation Ministry of Defense.
Studying process at this department is organized with focus on close scientific and educational relations with leading Russian scientific centers, as well as developers and manufacturers of aircraft and aerospace machinery which are at the forefront of scientific and technological progress.

Hydromechanics and transport machines department cooperates with leading Omsk enterprises, such as “OmskTransMash”, “Technopark-Omsk”, autocomplex “Reaktor”. Graduates of this department work at such large enterprises as “Transneft Western Siberia”, “Vysokie Tekhnologii”, “Vodokanal”, “Polyot”, “Reaktor”, as well as at transport maintenance enterprises in Nefteyugansk.

Machine science department
Main research areas at this department are: development of mechanisms with adaptive characteristics, research on mechanical transmission, and autonomous on-board return system of detachable stage part development. At the moment this department conducts scientific research on mechanics of real mechanical systems, machine dynamics, machine vibration protection, mechanical transmission and constraint, synthesis of mechanical systems with adaptive charachteristics.
Successful and high quality scientific research at this department is determined by a number of laboratories and research and educational centers represented at the department: “Pipeline transport systems diagnostics”, “Heat engineering measurement instruments control”, “Methods and means of measurement and control”, “Hydromechanics”, “Design engineering and modeling of transport and hydrocarbon storage systems”. Some of the main research areas include: technical systems control and testing, research on heterogeneous mixtures in main oil pipeline, complex technical systems safety, etc. Apart from this, the department consults on development and introduction of quality management systems at regional enterprises according to international standards ISO 9000.

This department is actively engaged in scientific and research activities. Laboratory “Wave mechanics” carries out research in the field of oil recovery enhancement: technical facilities development of vibroseis impact on oil and gas pools, technical facilities development of vibratory percussion impact on bottomhole formation zone with a use of implosion effect, technical facilities development of acoustico-implosion bottomhole formation zone treatment. Department’s scientific developments include low-frequency vibroseis source SV-100/20, which is created for vibroseis impact on oil and gas pools in order to enhance oil recovery.
